The September Issue

sept

Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue is the main character and focus of The September Issue-a movie coming out later this month. It follows the life of Anna and her team of editors creating the biggest issue of the magazine.

To salute the movie (which I have not yet seen) I’m listing my 5 favorite magazines (all of which I’ve subscribed to for years):

Harper’s Bazaar: I love the international slant of the features…
Vogue: Anna’s baby…need I say more?
Elle: I love their ‘Street Chic Daily’
Teen Vogue: Eva Chen is one of my all time favorite beauty editors–her stories are exciting and she’s energetic in person as well…

Marie Claire: I read a story they did about Kumari (Living Goddness in Nepal) and became a fan thereafter…

Gift Shopping: Bhaktapur

Bhaktapur is an awesome city and one of the best places to gift shop…I buy all my trinkets for friends here. It’s a historical Newar town not far from Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. I’m attracted to the culture and love to check out the palaces, artwork and the gorgeous temples left behind from centuries ago. Be sure to stop by during your visit to Kathamandu…so worth it!

Garden Of Dreams in Kathmandu

Garden Of Dreams in Kathmandu

I found this treasure nestled behind the huge wall along Tridevi Marg in Thamel. For an entry fee of Nepali Rs. 80 per person, it’s the ideal place to chill…. and an equally cool place to impress a date…there were tons of couples everywhere! The cafe at the back serves all types of desserts…coconut cake was absolutely my favorite! Pair it with Cha (a local tea made with a mix of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, milk and water). Imagine relaxing in the garden cafe on a hot summer day with a cup of Cha…this place is my garden of dreams…what’s yours?

Cooking Street Food in Nepal

Cooking Street Food in Nepal

I have a tendency to gravitate towards street food wherever I travel. I guess it all started when I was 13 and got off at a wrong train station in Chiba, Japan. I was lost and asked a street vendor for directions…he stopped what he was doing and offered me a takoyaki (octopus dumpling)…probably because I looked like I was about to cry. So, years later, while traveling to Kathmandu, Valley, I came upon these two vendors cooking these luscious fried treats.

In Search For The Perfect Solid Perfume

ppfinal

I fell in lust with Pacifica’s Brazilian Mango Grapefruit solid perfume when I purchased it at Elephant Pharmacy.

In the past, I’ve sprayed myself with liquid perfume—but I wanted a portable perfume that would not be snatched by airport security.

The smell is intoxicating, addictive, and sexy. Yep…a perfect scent for the first date, second date and for any occasion.

I’m now in quest for winterish scents and will pick my 10 favorite solid perfumes and share & tell with you all…any ideas?

Homage to BART

August 16, 2009 [Sunday]

We (riding public) waited patiently for negotiations to come to a fruitful ending…

addfaire

We don’t want BART employees to walk off their jobs.

How will we, the loyal commuters get to work? To see our kids? Our friends? Our lovers?

We don’t want BART employees to strike.
Please give them the raise that they deserve.
They work extremely hard.

NO STRIKE.
We (riding public) love BART.
Glad the negotiations resulted in positive outcome.
We can ALL get along.
