Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer

Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer

burts-bees-lip-shimmer

I’m in a natural makeup mode, which means, less foundation, natural no-fuss hair and most importantly, a glint of color on my lips.

Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer (Merlot) is my new lip color for the winter. It goes on like a Chapstick, leaves a perfect brush of red on my lips and gets my lips moisturized. It comes in delicious shades and is sold in most drug stores.

The Drowners

The Drowners

5-25

I first met Leif of The Drowners while working as a Publicist for Devillian, creators of the foldable/collapsible guitar. We kept in touch over the years and I recently got a chance to listen to The Drowners album on MySpace. The band debuted in Sweden in 1993, and have produced five albums and singles so far. Its been fifteen years of musical friendship.

Timetable:

July 1993 – First gig at Trastockfestivalen in Sweden.

Jan 1996 – First single “Teenager” is released through A West Side Fabrication.
Gets a whole lotta airplay in Sweden and opens up doors internationally.

Feb 1996 – First album “Destroyer” is released.
Also comes out in Brazil, most of Asia and Germany.

May 1997 – The single “Summer Break My Fall” is released to radio.
Does really well and charts in Aug. First ever chart position for A West Side Fabrication.

Sep 1997 – “World Record Player” is released in most of Europe.
Leads to touring with bands like Popsicle, Luna, Posies and so on.

May 1998 – First gig in NYC. Showcase for Wind-up Records.

Dec 1998 – Signs with Wind-up in NYC.

Jun 1999 – Moves to LA and records an album with Matt Hyde in Sound City Studios.

Jun 2000 – “Is There Something On Your Mind?” is released.
Single becomes new and active on Billboard. Touring in USA.

Oct 2002 – “Muted To a Whisper” is released. More touring and festivals in USA.

July 2007 – “Cease To Be” is released. Get it through CDBaby!

May 2008 – Beautiful Escape: The Songs of The Posies Revisited is released.

Dec 2008 – The X-mas single My Candle is released on A West Side Fabrication

The Usuals… Leif answers my questions…

Why do you do what you do?
I like the creative process. Doesn’t matter if it’s writing music, designing websites or building a summer house. It’s that feeling of creating something that wasn’t there before.

What makes you want to wake up in the morning?
Being involved in exciting projects with interesting people and of course my family.

How do you get your inspiration to work in the design field as well as being an artist?
Well, as I said earlier, it’s the creative process in itself that’s interesting to me. I can apply that to almost anything. When it comes to music I have always been more interested in songwriting and recording than live performance. Playing live can be awesome, but that magic feeling when a song comes to life in the studio is really hard to beat.

Who is your inspiration?
Don’t know if I have any specific people, I always keep my eyes and ears open for inspiration. It can come from visiting the Picasso museum in Barcelona, listening to Big Pink or watching True Blood. There’s always something that makes me interested.

If you were given the chance to relive your life all over again, what designer would you be?
Oh, that’s not easy. Maybe Arne Jacobsen – the Danish designer behind such classics chairs as the Swan, the Egg, the Ant, the Seven and many other brilliant designs.

What is your favorite dish?
I love Lebanese, Tapas and other mediterranean food, Sushi and also our local specialties in the north of Sweden – Reindeer, Salmon, Moose.

Your three rules to live by?
Don’t give up, do things that you love to do and surround yourself with people that give you energy.

Your must-have musical gadget?
I write most of my songs in my head without any instruments, so I guess my brain would be my must-have musical gadget ;-)

Your city/country of origin?
Skelleftehamn, Sweden.
http://bit.ly/9m2YN

Your proudest accomplishment?
I hope it’s still to come, but playing a packed CBGB’s was a dream come true…

Chocolate Granola Bar

Chocolate Granola Bar

51pnQiF8dJL._SS500_

I am in lust with this treat/health snack — call it what you may call it. I love this ‘after workout’ nibble treat. At about 120 calories, low sodium content (my body does not crave for a gallon of water afterwards) this really is my new chewy alternative to salty granola or bland protein bars. With dark chocolate and almonds, this is a must try.

Request to Mr. Steve Jobs

Request to Mr. Steve Jobs

apple_tablet

I am itching to get my hands on the fabled, upcoming Apple iTablet. Essentially, the tablet is a larger version of an iPhone – how large? likely up to 10 inches diagonally. I’ve heard so many different reports on the launch date, that at this point, I’m hoping it’s going to be released pre-my birthday (November 29). Mr. Steve Jobs, if you are reading this post, would you put my request into consideration?

Milan, Milan, Milan

Milan, Milan, Milan

yasueating

I fell in love with Milan, Italy the moment I set my foot in the city. So many friends suggested that I skip the city and opt for more touristy destinations such as Rome or Venice. I’ve always believed that the best way to see a city is to walk like the locals, talk to locals and eat like locals. When I was there for a week, I traveled on foot, ate at local cafes, visited a church and fell in love with the people.

Sons of Anarchy

Sons of Anarchy

cast-CharlieHunnam

This FX show is addictive – its an adrenalized drama with a very, very dark story about a group of outlaw motorcycle gang members. They are blood sister/brothers and the story just gets grittier with every episode. Nothing comes between this close knit band of strangers. Charlie Hunnam, who plays Jackson ‘Jax’ Teller is my new muse. He is seriously gorgeous.

Cruising With My Tripod

Cruising With My Tripod

gp1-color-bar-l

Why didn’t someone think about this before…seriously. I got this as a present from Mr. X and boy did he read my mind. The flexible tripod designed for my Canon digital camera fits into my purse (bonus point) and the funky segmented leg design to ensure secure mounting for almost all surfaces.

For fun, I plan to mount my flexi-tri to my scooter, Tony, and ride through Tilden Park.

Almost Organic Skin Care

Almost Organic Skin Care

IMG_8061

I rarely endorse beauty products, for I’ve become a skeptic after having worked in the skincare industry for years. I look at ingredients when I purchase a cosmetic items and am skeptical of products that claim to do something they don’t.

However, one try of Med3’s Exfoliating Cleanser, and I knew that I was onto something good for my skin. I contacted Barbara, the CEO over email and we talked in length about Med3. This is a story of a woman who refuses to give up, after having been told numerous times to do so, and I believe that her skincare line will someday be loved by men and woman all over the world.

Bio…

Med3 Dermaceuticals is a line of Collagen based Skin Care. The company evolved from research into Collagen and the effects that it has on the healing process for skin. We discovered that Collagen, along with Copper, Hyaluronic Acid and other nutritional ingredients, make a big difference in how the skin looks and feels, and realized that we have a product that does more for healthy radiant skin than anything else we have researched. That’s how Med3 came up with the Skin Care Division. After years of Research & Development regarding formulations, consumer testing and packaging, we have invested the time and effort needed to bring to the market the best product we could offer.

What are some new products slated for the next few months/year?
We are looking at developing an eye cream, lip balm and a hydrating mist.

The Usuals…

Why do you do what you do?
I founded Med3 Dermaceuticals because I know that I have a product that is different and more effective than anybody else. I also know that through our research, we will be able to develop products that can actually be used medicinally for some very important world-wide issues. Med3 Dermaceuticals will make a difference, worldwide.

What makes you want to wake up in the morning?
Knowing that I am working towards changing the world. Not only are we in the process of developing medical grade products, but we are also committed to using a percentage of our profits to help children’s organizations in those countries where our sales originate. Selling Skin Care is nice, but helping children around the world is exceptional. I will be highly involved in this process as it is my very personal goal.

Who is your inspiration?
My inspiration comes from the Bible, in many different places. If I were to choose a person, it would be Mother Theresa. She caught some grief from the Church for not preaching the Gospel, but she knew that it was most important to feed the poor. Without that, they could not listen, comprehend, or feel the Love of God.

If you were given the chance to relive your life all over again, who would you be?
Myself. I wouldn’t trade my life for anything.

What is your favorite Med3 Dermaceuticals product?
That is very tough.
The Illuminate & Hydrate Moisturizer SPF Tinted formula is so soft and silky that I would be lost (and dry) without it. BUT, the Skin Revitalizer Serum is the one with the most benefit, so I like that one most. BUT, the exfoliating cleanser is sooo nice and tingly, I really like that one. Hummm.

Your three rules to live by?
1. Treat people with respect.
2. Treat people with respect.
3. Treat people with respect.

Your must-have makeup item?
Fortunately, I don’t wear make-up. My feeling is that if you have good Skin Care, you don’t need make-up. Sometimes I wear mascara.

Your city/country of origin?
I was born in Woodside, California, but I am 100% Swiss. Everything about me is Swiss.

Your proudest accomplishment?
My children. For work, the thing that has kept me going is a sense of never giving up. I have been told over and over that I should give up. I don’t care what anybody says, I will never give up. If you believe in something, you will see it through to the very end, and if you really believe it, that end will be positive. Always.

Berkeley Honda Yamaha

Berkeley Honda Yamaha

parts1

I recently got my scooter tuned up at the Berkeley Honda Yamaha (735 Gilman St. Berkeley, CA. 94710 Tel: (510) 525-5525 ). The service was seamless, quick and the boys who work at the body shop know their stuff. Tony, my scooter, not only got a tuneup, but he got brand new tires, a mirror and tail lights.
